Cyclothymic disorder is a milder but more chronic version of bipolar disorder:
  • At least two years of major depressive symptoms and low-grade manic symptoms
  • Never had a symptom free period that lasted two or more months
  • Never had a mixed episode
  • The symptoms are not from another disorder or a substance
  • Clinically significant distress from symptoms or impairment in work, social, or other areas of important functioning

Cyclothymic is a chronic mood disorder characterized by numerous Major Depressive Episodes and numerous Hypomanic Episodes.
ONSET: Insidious or chronic course. Adolescence to early adulthood.
